"Legal clinic Comrat" continues to hold informational meetings with the inhabitants of Gagauzia, where it explains what types of benefits are available in the Republic of Moldova and how the population can use them.
Another information meeting was held in October with inhabitants of Cazaclia and Joltai villages, Ceadir-Lunga district. The lawyers of the "Legal Clinic Comrat" presented to the attendees information about the benefits and answered their questions. Most of the questions were about the types of benefits and the reasons why social authorities may refuse to issue a benefit.
"One of the main problems of the vulnerable population remains the low level of information about the types of benefits that exist in the country, as a result of which people do not apply for benefits and cannot exercise their right," said Natalia Baurculu, chairperson of the organization "Comrat Legal Clinic".
In Moldova, there are more than ten social benefits, each of which differs in the category of citizens to whom it is intended, the amount of the benefit, and the conditions of receipt. "We hope that through our meetings more citizens from vulnerable groups will learn about their rights, be able to use them, and improve their lives," said Natalia Baurculu.
The event was held within the project "Protection of rights of vulnerable and marginalized persons living in ATU Gagauzia". The project is implemented by the public association "Legal Clinic Comrat", as a beneficiary organization in the UNDP Moldova project "Improving Efficiency and Access to Justice in Moldova", implemented in partnership with the Penal Reform Institute with financial support from Sweden.
