More and more inhabitants of the villages of Gagauzia are learning about the types of benefits that exist in Moldova and the conditions for receiving them. The lawyers of the organization "Comrat Legal Clinic" held another lecture on this topic for 20 residents of Carbalia and Etulia villages.
Citizens attending the lectures were informed about the types of benefits and were able to ask questions. "Most of all the citizens were interested in questions related to the possibility of receiving social benefits and allowances for the cold period. The issue of assessing the welfare of applicants seeking benefits is particularly acute. Citizens note that the existing criteria are excessively overestimated and should be revised, taking into account the new realities," said Natalia Baurculu, chairwoman of the "Comrat Legal Clinic" organization
Lecture participants noted the importance of knowing such information. "Legislation often changes, we do not have the possibility to follow it, so providing this information is timely and relevant" - commented one of the participants of the lecture in Carbalia village
The information received was useful not only for participants who are entitled to benefits. "I did not even know about some types of social assistance, and although I do not qualify for it, but there are people to whom I can disseminate what I learned. Maybe they can get social assistance," one of the participants from Etulia village shared with us.
Earlier, similar lectures have been held by lawyers from the "Comrat Legal Clinic" organization in the villages of Cazaclia, Joltai, Tomai and Ferapontievca.
The event was held as part of the project "Protection of the rights of vulnerable and marginalized people living in the territory of ATU Gagauzia". The project is implemented by the public association "Legal Clinic Comrat", as a beneficiary organization in the UNDP Moldova project "Improving Efficiency and Access to Justice in Moldova", implemented in partnership with the Institute for Criminal Reform with financial support from Sweden.
